The Padrón brothers' logical, well thought out and coherent cuisine was the key to their cookery success based on Canary Island techniques and ingredients.
It was no surprise that these brothers from Tenerife moved into gastronomy, because they are from a catering family. Juan Carlos went for the savouries (and earned prizes such as the International Chef of the Future Award), while Jonathan took control of the sweet side of things.
Their flagship restaurant is El Rincón de Juan Carlos, which they opened in 2003 along with their mother and their wives, María José Plasencia and Raquel Navarro, who work simultaneously as floor managers and sommeliers. They earned their first Michelin star in 2015, and lost it when they changed the location (previously Los Gigantes and now at the Royal Hideaway Corales Beach, in Adeje. A new location at which they not only retrieved the first star, but added another.
In 2019 they opened ‘Poemas by Hermanos Padrón’ at Hotel Santa Catalina (in Gran Canaria), which has also won a Michelin star.
